If you have ever wanted to visit another planet but were fearful for the lack of oxygen, I invite you to join me for four days in Badlands National Park. Truly one of the most remarkable and unique landscapes in the United States, Badlands offers endless photographic compositions and elements for you to grow your photography skills upon. This is a workshop were you will walk away just four days after starting only craving more of this unique area. We will be out photographing every sunrise and sunset, the night sky, and keeping a close eye open looking for bison, bighorn sheep and prairie dogs as well. Although this is a bit shorter workshop, your creative mind will be in overload.
What You Will Learn:
How to create compelling landscape compositions
How to use your camera to its fullest capabilities
How to utilize a variety of lenses to think “outside the box.”
An understanding for light and how to take advantage of it in all conditions
How to photograph the night sky and create star trails
The basics of Lightroom and Photoshop
How to utilize wildlife into your imagery
An introduction to black and white photography
How to buy Red Bulls because you will need them and much, much more
What You Will Need:
A DSLR camera body and an assortment of lenses. A wide angle is highly recommended as well as a zoom lens
A sturdy tripod
An intervalometer (a cheap one off of Amazon will work just fine)
A headlamp or flashlight
At least the trial version of Lightroom or Photoshop on your laptop
Multiple batteries
A desire to learn, have fun, be flexible, and explore nature!
Note: a 10 or 6 stop neutral density filter for your wide angle is recommended, but not required.

Physical Requirements:
We will have one or two hikes about 1.5 miles in distance one way. These may include some small to moderate inclines. Hikes will always be taken at a slow and enjoyable pace. Please know your limitations. If you feel a hike may not be for you, I will gladly give you another shooting location to visit during our outing.
Where Do We Stay?
We will be staying at the Badlands Inn within Badlands National Park. Rooms will be based upon double occupancy unless requested otherwise.
Getting There:
Badlands National Park is located in South Dakota, approximately one hour southeast of Rapid City. You will want to fly into Rapid City.
Workshop Start / Wrap:
Tour I’s workshop will start with our meet and greet on October 4th at 3PM and wrap on October 7th at 10AM. Tour II will start at 3PM on October 7th and wrap on October 10th at 10AM.
