If you’ve ever wanted to experience what it would be like to photograph incredible wildlife inside of a snow globe, I invite you to join me for a winter photography workshop at the iconic Yellowstone National Park. From bison, to foxes, coyotes, eagles and with some luck, wolves, you’ll be filling your memory cards with incredible images over four exciting days. Not only will you be photographing your hearts out, you will have access to not just one, not two, but three fantastic photography instructors. For this workshop, I’ve teamed up with the amazing team at Bozeman Camera. You’ll not only have myself in a private snow coach with you, but also two instructors from Bozeman Camera as well, creating a nearly 2-1 participant to instructor ratio. Joining us will be Marshall Lewis and another instructor, TBA. We will spend each day cruising around Yellowstone in search of fantastic moments, scenes and iconic wildlife. Departing at just before sunrise, we will have nearly 11 hours each day to make Yellowstone our photographic playground.
What You Will Learn:
How to create compelling and emotional winter wildlife compositions.
How to use your camera to its fullest capabilities.
How to utilize a variety of lenses to think “outside the box.”
An understanding for light and how to take advantage of it in all conditions.
How to utilize editing techniques within Lightroom and Photoshop.
An introduction to black and white photography.
How to utilize various filters.
How to pick your jaw up off the floor.
What You Will Need:
A DSLR or mirrorless camera body and an assortment of lenses. A telephoto (400-600mm range ) is highly recommended.
A sturdy tripod.
At least the trial version of Lightroom or Photoshop on your laptop.
Multiple memory cards & batteries.
A desire to learn, have fun, be flexible, and explore nature!

Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome! We will depart Bozeman, Montana and head down to West Yellowstone just after noon. Once we arrive in West Yellowstone, we will have our welcome dinner, and a presentation on what to expect in the coming days!
Days 2-5: Here we go! We are up early each day, and on our way into the park before the sun is up! We will spend 10-11 hours in the park each day, searching for beautiful winter scenes with wildlife and landscapes abound! Each night, after dinner, we will have edit and critique sessions, so get your sleep in now!
Day 6: After four amazing fun-filled days in Yellowstone, we will depart back to Bozeman for our workshop wrap. We plan to be back around noontime to allow for afternoon flights out.
Physical Requirements:
There will be very minimal hiking on this workshop. There may be some opportunities for landscape photography when wildlife isn’t present, but hiking is very limited.
Where To Fly Into:
You will want to fly into and out of Bozeman, Montana as this is where our workshop will start and conclude.
Where We Will Be Staying:
We will be basing out of the Holiday Inn in West Yellowstone. This will allow us the quickest access into Yellowstone National Park.

Mike Mezeul II
Mike Mezeul II is an extreme nature and landscape photographer and Nikon Ambassador, based out of Arvada, Colorado. His work focuses on documenting the power and beauty within the worlds most powerful natural events, focusing primarily on severe weather and volcanoes. When he is not on a project, he spends his time leading workshops around the world in which he shares his passion for photography through inspiring and educating individuals of all ages and skill levels.

Marshall Lewis
Marshall is the owner of Bozeman Camera, a destination retail store in Bozeman, Montana. He has been in the photo industry for 38 years, and is a gear expert familiar with all major brands of cameras and lenses. He hosts workshops and educational events, as well as mentoring photographers. A Bozeman native, Marshall is our local Yellowstone expert and co-host of this trip. His camera store also offers rentals and camera cleanings, as well as a large inventory of new and used camera gear for sale.
